Kalakuta Show, Kuti swelters around a heavy drum groove that bursts and subsides. The funk contained on this track last over 15 minutes on both sides of the album and is a dedication to his commune named the Kalakuta Republic which he established in 1970 upon returning to Lagos. He declared his commune seperate from the government. His commune contained free health care, housing for his family and band members, and even a recording studio.
