Description
FERNANDITO VILLALONA Romantico 1988 Kubaney LP 1st Press K-20003 Merengue EX/VG
Fernando "El Mayimbe" Villalona is one of the most influential voices in Dominican merengue, and Romántico captures him in ballad mode — leaning into bolero and romantic pop rather than uptempo dance merengue. The album pairs originals with covers, including a merengue-inflected take on Roberto Carlos' "Cama y Mesa" and José Alfredo Jiménez's "Sin Sangre en las Venas."
This is an original US pressing on Kubaney Records, K-20003.
Mastered at Miami Tape Inc., a Miami mastering house with a deep catalog of Latin releases.
Manufactured and distributed by Kubaney Publishing Corp.
Sky-blue label with a rainbow stripe design, Kubaney's house look for the period.
The two labels on this copy carry different Kubaney addresses — Side A shows the company's earlier 8399 NW 66th St location, Side B and the jacket show the later 8000 NW 31st St Suite 17 address. An authentic mixed-label pairing from the manufacturing run.
