Description
FINCH - THUNDERBIRD - RARE LP VINYL ALBUM Classic 70s Oz Rock VG+. Condition is Very Good. Sent with Australia Post Standard Service in sturdy LP mailer.
Finch were a Sydney-based heavy/pub-rock band who existed throughout most of the 70s. Thunderbird was their self-financed first released and was a hit with the surfer crowd thanks to some of the songs being featured on the soundtrack of the surf-film Drouyn. The band feature Bob Spencer on lead guitar, who later joined Skyhooks, and was fronted by Owen Orford who is now a respected figure in the Australian music industry, having represented numerous Australian acts including Midnight Oil, Silverchair and Powderfinger.
This album is a great and under-appreciated example of the Australian hard rock sound of the 70s which reverberated in pubs, clubs and school halls across the country. I have a vague recollection of Finch playing at my local high school dance, but that may have been a dream.
This copy is in amazing condition. I must have been a surprisingly careful record owner in my teens because this record has very few scuffs or marks and mostly plays as new. The vinyl is very glossy and reflective as can be seen in the photos. The cover has a few slight age spots which aren't very noticeable but is in otherwise excellent condition.
*** UPDATE *** On a second playback test today a problem was discovered. Track 2 Side 2 had a couple of jumps near the start of the song. However after anti-skating adjustments were applied this was rectified. This may be an artefact of age or groove wear. Please contact me if there are any issues and I can provide audio files (with and without anti-skating adjustments).
