FLAMENGO - KURE V HODINKACH /Supraphon 013 1287, 1972/(CHICKEN IN THE WATCH).This is much rarer MONO Pressing!
Original pressing of this most revered Czech prog classic, has a sound akin to the British jazz-rock sound
but darker, something like a cross between Colosseum and VGDD. They started out as a R'n'B band but
moved to progressive jazz-rock for this one.
The LP is also well known because of its withdrawal. According to a great Bavarian collector, the story
goes that way: as the cover was representing an icon of the monarchy and the lyrics were too subversive
for the then communist authorities, the aforementioned simply pulled out the LP from the racks and
destroyed the stocks as a censorship, making it an instant collectible. This was also the end of Flamengo.
„the most complex progressive of all Czech bands, this sole release was
banned upon release due to the „controversial sleeves“ =Chicken in the
clock. They stared as a pop band and developed from beat to jazz roots in 60
Ls to a lively complex progressive fusion akin to early Colosseum, but the
fiery M.Efekt like energy and uniquely Czech sound. This is and absolute
masterpiece, also featuring excellent vocals of Vladimir Mišk /of Blue Effect:
