Description

FIFTY years ago, in '74, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the British blues band Fleetwood Mac. Singer and guitarist Bob Welsh had left the group, and they already had a female singer and piano player/keyboardist onboard (Christine McVie). Christine was married to the bass player John McVie, and known as Christine Perfect before she married John. Lindsey and Stevie were recommended by producer Keith Olsen, who produced the 1973 album titled 'Buckingham Nicks', as well as the first Fleetwood Mac record featuring Lindsey and Stevie (1975's self titled album).

That album, 'Buckingham Nicks', became out of print, and has never been given a proper digital treatment. (I believe there's a few copies of a digital import that came out, but it's a company that did it on their own.) The first press vinyl copies are hard to find, and can go for big bucks! Today, we take a look back at both the first press 'Buckingham Nicks' album, as well as a 12" picture disc LP copy of the second Fleetwood Mac album with Lindsey and Stevie, (and one of top ten greatest selling albums of all time), titled 'Rumours'!

'Rumours' has sold over a massive FORTY MILLION copies worldwide, and over half of that sold here in the US! And that's not counting digital and streaming sales. And there's a reason for that. It's that good! It's breezy California pop, with some nice guitar work (from Lindsey), and lyrics that have a dark side (on some, though not all, songs). Two couples were breaking up while they were recording this album (John and Christine, and Lindsey and Stevie). This was the drug-fueled break up record that defined the 70s!

In 2010, Warner allowed this timeless classic to be made into a picture disc LP. German import. It got released again, earlier this year, as a picture disc, but in a die-cut sleeve. This is the full jacket, with the original artwork (that's also on the picture disc). These copies are extremely rare, and can usually sell for will over a hundred dollars! This is that rare German import, on a heavy and thick 180 gram vinyl picture disc LP, in its full jacket, with the inner sleeve!

And of course I'll add a bonus! 'Rolling Stone' magazine had been featuring rock and roll greats in special issues, with everything about that artist, and no ads! They've done specials on Prince, The Eagles, Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, and many more. It's color and black and white pics, interviews, album reviews, and other cool stuff. And again, not one ad! This is all about the big Mac, Fleetwood Mac! And it's awesome and interesting, and it's added to this already good deal...

You get a first press copy of the 'Buckingham Nicks' album from 1973. The vinyl itself looks pretty good, but with several light scratches on it (more surface marks than scratches, but they're there). The inner sleeve is generic. The outer jacket has signs of wear, but in pretty good shape for something that's over fifty years old. Would look great in a frame, and displayed proudly on your wall!

The picture disc is still shiny and clean. In absolutey fantastic condition! The thick and heavy vinyl looks amazing. The jacket and inner sleeve are in awesome condition as well! Not sure why the current picture discs didn't come in the full jacket like these, but at any rate, this is a great combo, having both the pic disc and the full jacket!

And the magazine is in like new condition. No pages ripped or torn out, and no pages dog-eared or handwritten on. In really, really nice condition, and would look great on that beautiful coffee-table in the living room. Show your love for Fleetwood Mac with this sweet three piece bundle of cool collectibles!

(RIP Christine McVie, Bob Welsh, and Keith Olsen. Each one of you were important parts of Fleetwood Mac, and we appreciate your contributions. You also helped make Fleetwood Mac one of the biggest bands in the world. Each one of you is missed!)
