FMP Records R1/R2/R3, recorded early to mid Seventies. This compilation was a decennial celebreation document for the first ten years of the Workshop Freie Musik concert series in Berlin. Rare contents document, respectively, solo, group and orchestra performances unpublished to that time, and unreissued since then. ALL ARE UNIQUE TO THIS COLLECTION, and some are outright unique configurations. Most of the playes who were important to the early history of FMP appear here somehow, including: the ICP, Globe Unity, Vinko Globokar, and Willem Breuker Orchestras; The Schlippenbach Trio, Brotzmann-van-Hove-Bennink+Mangelsdorff, the Frank Wright Quartet, the Schweizer-Carl Quartet; and solos by Bailey, Lacy, Dyani (!), Rutherford, Reichel, van Hove, Honsinger, Mangelsdorff. The book gives a history of the performances in the series, along with MANY photographs, theory, and analysis. Records are completely unplayed. Hans Reichel solo track shows one small non-sounding blemish; otherwise immaculate. Jackets of the individual records all have small blunt bends in at least one corner, but none beyond ordinary shelf wear. Paper-bound 12 X 12 book also has very minor bending to some page corners and beginnings of spine un-gluing. Both are part of the unavoidable syndrome of this record and likely to be part of any copy of it. Likewise the outer hull, made of cardboard in a thickness most LP covers were made from at the time, is structurally unable to support the weight of the contents and shows wear with any use. Spine of this copy has a convex crease running the entire length, and some predictably frayed corners. Comes also with an early FMP paper catalogue of LP releases to that times.

This is one of about 800 pieces of vinyl from the LP collection of saxophonist Evan Parker, all to be auctioned over the next year by this seller and seller "soulful-i". Roughly one half of the collection comprises modern Jazz LPs (including large collections of Coltrane and Dolphy originals) brought back by Parker on his early Sixties trips to the US; those will be listed by soulful-i. Parker also acquired hundreds of avant-garde and improvised music LPs directly from fellow musicians and contemporaries; these will be auctioned here. Nearly all are new or play as new.
