FORT MUDGE MEMORIAL DUMP – “self-titled” (1969) Mercury-61256 original pressing VG/EX (cover/record)

I never see this one. It’s a rare and great album by a highly talented obscure underground psych band with Jefferson Airplane styles, including female & male vocals and cool self compositions. The band was from Walpole, Massachusetts, that started playing by 1969, gathering a good number of fans. They got filed into the “Bosstown Sound”, along with groups like the Ultimate Spinach, the Beacon Street Union, Orpheus, Tangerine Zoo, etc. With good technique and better ideas, they recorded a very sought-after LP for Mercury in which the voice of Caroline Stratton stands out to some Jefferson Airplane affinity. Guitarist Dean Keady, with his complex effects, leads the band. Despite its east coast origins, the band is firmly rooted in San Francisco acid-soaked psychedelia. The revelation here is Stratton, whose powerhouse vocals are reminiscent of the Jefferson Airplane’s Grace Slick. “Mr. Man” and “Crystal Forms” both portray Stratton's vocals favorably and include stong guitar work. Others, such as “Actions Of A Man” and “What Good Is Spring?” find Caroline and the band in a flowing mood that offsets the acidrock tunes quite nicely. All of the tracks: Mr. Man (2:46) Crystal Forms (5:47) Actions Of A Man (3:23) Blue's Tune (3:10) The Seventh Is Death (5:35) What Good Is Spring? (4:09) Tomorrow (2:55) Know Today (2:10) Questionable Answer (3:25) The Singer (7:40)

This is an original pressing. The unipak fold-open cover has some light wear, spine wear/splitting and a number of cover crimps and crinkles (see photo). The original 12-logo label vinyl is clean and glossy and looks beautiful. Conservative grading: VG/M- (cover/record).

Winner pays postage. Domestic U.S. shipping is $4 media rate or $9 for priority mail (insurance additional and quoted at cost). International first class shipping (7-10 day delivery) varies by postal zone. Please see the listing for specific costs.

I package all LPs securely in record mailers and remove the vinyl from the covers to prevent seam splits during mailing. I do not just stick your record in a priority mailer box from the post office or between two thin pieces of cardboard with no additional packaging materials like so many others!!!

I accept Paypal for all transactions and other methods of payment we can discuss - just send me a message.

Thanks for looking, and good luck!
