Description
I have gone through this entire 16 LP set closely examining under super bright light and magnification and am upgrading my condition rating to Near Mint. I only use Mint for factory sealed titles. Across the 16 LPs I can say Near Mint to NM-. (NM/NM-), with the following details for nit-pickers like me. In the entire set only a couple of discs have very small / light hairline marks. And on my play test of the entire set I found one song with a small scratch that made an audible click through that one song. Otherwise they look super shiny and play as new. I think my dad probably played some once to record.
I have also done some comparing to the original first press gray label Capitol releases that I own. Those originals are highly regarded for sound quality. I am comparing on a high end tube driven audio system. Songs for Swingin' Lovers has been a benchmark for me. The recording date is Oct 17, 1955 which was 7 days after I was born! Upon playing it I said "how can anything be better than this"? And the Mobile Fidelity was better in every way. So tranparent on Frank's voice. Fine detail and silent background. Yhe entire set is awesome. An amazing prodution by Mobile Fidelity.
This is a rare and highly sought-after box set of Frank Sinatra's greatest hits, spanning his career. The collection includes 16 33 RPM LPs, all housed in a sturdy storage case. Mobile Fidelity MFSL pressing technology assures the best vinyl and high-quality sound. These numbered sets were pressed in Japan at Victor Company of Japan (where MFSL's best pressings were done) and mastered by the man himself, Stan Ricker.
These Mobile Fidelity half speed mastered pressings are truly amazing. The sound quality on these is astounding. Pressed from the original master tapes that were quite state of the art recordings for their era. This set belonged to my father who passed recently at 93 and left me about 1000+ Jazz Records. The discs look mostly unplayed and I have sampled many of the sides on a high end audio system. My guess is he played these very few times and some not at all.
The original box from the numbered limited edition is in really exceptional shape. As close to perfect as you could probably find. The set is complete except one of the sleeves is missing (Number 8 "Sings for Only The Lonely"). That title is in a plastic sleeve with the correct protective inner sleeve. I don't know where Dad put it! The silver sleeves outer sleeves (individual record jackets) are almost perfect. Just a few superficial scratches.
The box set features a limited numbered edition, with the original inner sleeve's (Except one noted) included. And the protective storage Box as pictured. It is a First Edition, Limited Edition, First Pressing, and Numbered Edition, making it a valuable addition to any music collection. The music style includes Old School, Vocal, Serenade, 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, with a mix of Pop, Easy Listening, and Jazz genres. The backing bands, such as the Nelson Riddle Orchestra really sound stunning on these pressings.
This will ship USPS media mail and fully insured. If this needs to get to you asap, let me know and I will revise the shipping. The set is fairly heavy, so it would be a bit pricey going priority mail. I am a super packer and shipper. It will be very securely packed. Shipping from Red Wing, Minnesota.
Condition Scale:
(NM) Near Mint: Near Mint is a record or disc that is virtually flawless. Clean and glossy, a near perfect rarely-played example. Vinyl may play with very light or occasional dust or static related noise that is only heard in the quietest passages. The vinyl record and label as well as the CD show no obvious signs of wear. It appears clean with factory gloss. There may be a barely visible paper scuff or two, possibly a hairline mark, but no scratches. An LP jacket or CD booklet or artwork would have no obvious signs or wear but one or two handling creases are acceptable. No ringwear, no sawcuts or discount marks. May have a minimal corner bump. Artist signatures are the only acceptable form of writing for this grade. "Near Mint" will look as if you just got it home from the record store. (M-) Mint Minus and (NM-) Near Mint Minus: To make a distinction here is really splitting hairs. These CD's or vinyl records may have light scuffs or hairline mark that will have no effect on sonic quality. Light spindle marks may be present, still looks clean and unplayed. The discs will retain their factory gloss and luster. Covers or artwork will not have ringwear, seam splits, torn or folded pages. No 'cut out' marks, drill holes, writing or stickers. Most show evidence of light use but nothing that would constitute a distraction. This grade will present as near new having been properly handled and cared for. Any detraction will be noted.- Mastered At – Original Masteringworks
