Why do we believe that this album contains the original, first pressing of the record? Well, our conclusion that this album contains the original, first pressing – an assumption which we caution may be entirely wrong - was based on the following factors:
1. The high quality and overall integrity of the manufacture points out to the earliest generation of the pressing.
2. No bar code on the cover signifies a pre-1978 pressing; no ZIP (postal) code in the label’s address on the back cover indicates that this is a pre-1966 pressing
3. The back cover has a tiny number in lower right-hand corner (usually signifying the number of the pressing plant). This numerical system was used mostly in the 1960’s (and mostly by Capitol and Columbia) and was later supplanted by a numerical or symbolical values (letters and symbols) . The number on this copy is: 1
4. The way the paper slick was folded along the edges and pasted onto the cardboard base, with overlapping corners and edges, points out to the 50’s to mid-60’s pressing
5. The shrink wrap on the cover has "air holes" found only on the early, less technologically sophisticated and less elastic cellophane, which had to be punctured in order to allow the air out when the album was sealed.
6. We can see through the opening slot that the record comes in its original, stock inner sleeve
7. The cover has the original serial (catalog) number, and not the reissue catalog number, which is different from the original pressing.
· CONDITION:
· RECORD
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ►click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID)
(b) The record is believed to come in its original stock inner sleeve.
(c) The record is apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!
(d) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
