Description
For Auction - The Original Trademark of Quality Records edition of Frank Zappa and His Hot Rats - At The Olympic. Recorded in March 1970 at the Olympic Theater in Los Angeles. Having just released the Hot Rats LP, Frank decided to put together a subset of the musicians and take them out in public. The band consisting of: FZ - Guitar, Voice, Don "Sugarcane" Harris - Violin, Voice; Aynsley Dunbar-Drums, Ian Underwood - Woodwinds, and Max Bennett - Bass. The band performed just a few shows before Frank got word that the commissioning for the 200 Motels concert (Held at UCLA later that May) had been approved and he suddenly had to focus attention on that project. Thus, this is the only record of this quintet in concert! The performances on this disc consist of: (1) Sharleena ("I would be so delighted", Twinkle Tits (coupled with :"Interlude" - these two pieces remain unreleased), a cover of Little Richard's "Directly From My Heart To You", and "The Clap" (actually "Chunga's Revenge" under this title).
The LP is in Mint- condition and was pressed on dark blue vinyl (The album was released in Blue, Green, Red and Black vinyl editions). THE INSERT IS MISSING!!! (Sorry, it did not survive multiple moves over 40+ years). Please let me know if you have questions.
