Description

I am parting with some of my treasured LPs.  Here's a great record from 1968. It is the ORIGINAL STEREO PRESSING of FRANK ZAPPA AND THE MOTHERS amazing LP CRUISING WITH RUBEN AND THE JETS, and in great shape. The front cover shows some record rubbing and slight general wear.  There's a punch hole top left.  The back cover shows record rubbing, and a small cut to the top seam of a quarter inch. The seams and spine are all very nicely intact and looking nice, but  with a little wear.  The LP looks nice, but under bright light has some smudges, and hairlines that don't effect play.  It has a full beautiful as new shine to both sides, and it plays perfectly with no background sounds, pops, skips, or jumps at all.  It's a very beautiful playing LP.  The labels are beautiful with a couple spindle marks. Side 2 has a small semi circular mark by the word STEREO.  BTW- There were no MONO pressings of this LP.
CRUISING WITH RUBEN AND THE JETS is a concept LP with a fictitious Chicano Doo Wop/ Rock band from the 50's.  It came about as part of Zappa's love for the Doo Wop music of the 50's, but the concept satire became more of a parody, as Zappa never wanted to write a serious love song.  Zappa was in the middle of a creative zenith in the mid to late 60's.  It was his most creative period starting with the most shocking and unexpected debut ever in FREAK OUT.  Another concept parody LP was WE'RE ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY, which took aim straight at The Beatles and SGT PEPPERS.  The songs on Ruben & The Jets are great.  It's a fun LP that's an easy play, and amusing.  YOU DIDN'T TRY TO CALL ME is a personal favorite.  This LP is like no other Zappa LP.  He did it, got it out of his system, and moved on.  That's why he's a creative genius, he doesn't need to do the same thing over and over again...  4 of these songs I should say are originally from FREAK OUT, and re recorded in a Doo Wop style.  Zappa didn't do that very much at all.
I love original original pressings because I feel every LP is of it's time and place. The vinyl, and record pressings are all from that moment in time, and no re-pressing or re-mastering will ever make the sound better for me.
PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER LPS FOR SALE NOW ON EBAY.  I AM POSTING SOME TREASURES.  SOME ARE RARE AND COLLECTIBLE, AND OTHERS ARE JUST GREAT ALBUMS LIKE THIS ONE IS.
