Description

Frank Zappa Lather 4 LP set on the Edison label. Originally conceived as a four-record box set in 1977, and rejected by Warner Brothers in that format, it was then released with changes in the records - "Sleep Dirt", "Studio Tan", "In New York", and "Orchestral Favorites". Now you can hear it as was originally intended by the artist in this boxed set which has the Edison retro style label art, with images of Frank Zappa in each corner. A very scarce item, with all discs in near mint condition graded to Goldmine standards, in a very good box. GRADE DETAILS - each record has been visually graded, and with the exception of side 7 appear to be flawless, HOWEVER, side 7 has a small mar, (less than 1/8 inch long) at the very end of the last track. I played this section of the record through 3 times on my system (Which uses a Stanton 681-EEE-MK-III cartridge) and heard no noise, I believe it to be a surface mark from a "fingernail drag" and for that reason I am still grading the set as near mint. The box is in very good condition with one split corner which I am embarrassed to admit I caused myself, when I grabbed the open box in the wrong manner. There is very light rubbing on the cover in a few places (see images) and a small spot of discoloration on the back lower corner (1/2 inch by 3/8 inch). Comes with 'Barking Pumpkin gatefold catalog' listing many items, and full of Zappa style humor, with 'Zappa Old Masters' on cover (see images).
