THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION - Uncle Meat ORIG Transatlantic 2LP / TRA 197 (UK, Stereo, 1969)
Happy to present this original UK press of The Mothers’ soundtrack to the long delayed (!) film of the same name. This copy is the UK original, so as far as I know DID NOT come with the booklet. However, a booklet is included here, it’s an 8 page affair, printed in the USA. I’m not sure if it’s the original US design, but I believe it was available at some of The Mother’s UK shows in 1968/69. It has NOT been separated or divided and is as it originally came.
The non-laminated gatefold sleeve was printed by MacNeil Press Ltd and is in a pleasing VG+ (Very Good Plus) condition. There are 2 or 3 light small creases to the front panel. Top and bottom edges are rubbed but not split, and the spine is the same - most text has been rubbed, but again there are no splits. Moderate feathering and some softening to the opening edges. Some ringwear to the top and bottom of the rear panel. Some softening to the corners. Just some general light wear in keeping with it’s 41 years, but no writing, residue, stickers, tears or splits. All there and all looking good.
The booklet is 8 pages - 4 colour / 4 black & white and is in all round EX (Excellent) condition. No creases, writing, rips, tears, nicks or loose pages. Well preserved.
The original purple/white Transatlantic labels are pretty much as issued with superb full colour and no damage across any of the sides. There are some light spindle trails to one side of Record 1, while Record 2 shows only ONE between the sides. A lovely set of late 60’s vintage labels!
The medium heavy vinyls are in lovely condition. Record 1 has had more play, though still only light, and cosmetically shows 2 thin hairlines (1 per side) and a light scuff to Side 1. Record 2 looks unplayed with no marks or blemishes of any kind. NO scratches to either of the records and a lovely full shine with no embedded dirt. Audio is brilliant with near silence on the run-ins and between tracks and NO snap, crackle, pops, clicks, hiss, distortion or loss of clarity. Record 1 must cosmetically grade EX- (Excellent Minus) if not full EX, while Record 2 looks near perfect and so comes in at a confident M- (Mint Minus). Remember there’s only one or two cosmetic blemishes and really, these records are in a superb state for their 41 years.
Complete original UK Uncle Meat package in really pleasing nick. This is The Mothers at their peak, sounding top in original analogue, and without the digital disappointment of the later CD release. Don’t miss!!
