FRATERNITY - Livestock - Maxi Single

Rare Original Australia Vinyl Single 1971

Catalogue Number
  • Sweet Peach SPM 501

Description:

  • Original 1971 Australian 7" vinyl maxi single in correct company sleeve
  • Featuring Bon Scott before AC/DC
  • An unbelievably great copy of this incredibly rare Fraternity 3-track 1971 single from the Adelaide progressive blues-rock outfit featuring Bon Scott on vocals (post Valentines and pre AC/DC).
  • Fraternity was formed in 1970 by some members of the recently-split legendary 60’s outfit Levi Smith Clefs (among the many founding line-ups of the Clefs at least four significant Australian groups -- Tully, Fraternity, SCRA and Mighty Mouse all had direct links to the band). At the time Fraternity were without a regular vocalist until Fraternity's bass player Bruce Howe decided to call upon Bon Scott, whose group The Valentines had just disbanded. New Zealand musician John Bissett played keyboards in this early line up.
  • They released two albums and five singles which enjoyed moderate success however, an attempt to find success in the UK was not fruitful and in early 1973 the band changed its name to Fang. By mid-1973 the group had stalled and gradually disintegrated, and the members returned to Australia. Some members formed the loosely-knit Mount Lofty Rangers with whom Bon Scott recorded a couple of songs before being seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in early 1974. When he had recovered, Scott joined AC/DC and Fraternity later reformed with a different line-up and continued until about 1976.
  • Of the 5 singles Fraternity released their first two turn up occasionally, however this maxi single is almost impossible to fine, especially in its original printed sleeve
  • This is a major AC/DC related rarity
  • SIDE ONE: Livestock / Why Did It Have To Be Me / SIDE TWO: Cool Spot
