FRED JACKSON “Hootin’ ‘N Tootin’” Blue Note RVG, P, LAM, BLP 4094 Mono Vinyl
This is 1962, first edition, “Van Gelder” stamped, Laminated Cover, “P” pressing of FRED JACKSON’s “Hootin’ ‘N Tootin’” on the "New York USA” labels of Blue Note BLP 4094. Musicians include Fred Jackson – tenor saxophone, Earl Van Dyke – organ, Willie Jones – guitar, Sam Jones – bass, Wilbert Hogan – drums.
VINYL plays with consistent light to medium surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with pops and ticks, some of which repeat (Side 2, #1, #2). But ensemble sections are very clear, dynamic and strong with clean transients, and full tone. No distortion. Okay gloss. Many hairline marks, none feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The “New York USA” labels are clean, with spindle wear. See photos.
LAMINATED COVER is in very good shape. Corners worn, 3 wrinkled. Seams and spine mostly clean, some cracking, upper left corner split and cracked. See photos. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket is very clean. “REVIEW COPY” stamp indicates very early pressing. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER.
