The Best Of Freddy McKay
LP
I don't usually list scuffed records but I'm listing this one because of its rarity. Scuffs mean backgroung hiss is audible but the reggae cuts through fine. Sleeve has general wear but no rips or major damage.
Reggae singer Freddy McKay delivered his songs in a grittily soulful style. He scored his first hit - the beautiful rocksteady tune "Love Is A Treasure" - for Treasure Isle, followed by several other hits for Duke Reid's prominent record label. Next to this he achieved memorable success with songs he cut for Coxsone Dodd's Studio One label in the early reggae era. In the early seventies he recorded for several other producers, however, without achieving the consistent success his talent deserved. Sadly he passed away in 1986 aged only 39.
