Item :

FREE ~ FIRE AND WATER LP

Original 1970 U.K. first issue stereo pressing released on the pink Island label ILPS 9120.

Description :

Hard to find Free classic. First issue copies have become increasingly rare.

Free are still cited as one of the definitive bands of the British blues boom of the late 1960s with the release of Tons of Sobs in 1968, but this is the only album that can strictly be called blues-rock. The next album, Free, released in 1969, has a marked difference in the musicianship of the band as well as Paul Rodgers's voice.

Unlike their previous albums Tons of Sobs and Free, Fire and Water released in 1970 was a huge success, largely due to the album containing the hit single "All Right Now", which reached #1 on the UK rock music charts, #2 on the UK singles chart and #4 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album reached #2 in the UK charts and #17 on the U.S charts making it the most successful Free album. Highway was their fourth studio album, recorded extremely quickly in September 1970. Though widely considered to be an excellent follow-up to Fire and Water, Highway performed poorly in the charts, reaching #41 in the UK and #190 in the US.

Condition ~ Vinyl :

Side one of the vinyl is in VG+ condition because of one light scratch on the third track that goes with the groove and causes three light clicks. The rest of the side is very clean with just a couple of faint hairlines.

Side two is in super clean EXCELLENT condition with just the faintest of wear.

Condition ~ Sleeve :

The original "basing street london W11" with its pinched top and bottom spine sleeve is in NEAR MINT condition with only the faintest of wear but no splits, tears or writing.

Condition ~ Labels :

Both rough textured labels are nice and clean showing only light spindle wear but no writing.
