Description
OK, before collectors get over excited, there's good news and bad news! The good news is we have here an original first issue (A2/B2) copy of Tons Of Sobs by Free on the rare 'pink eye' Island label ILPS9089. The condition isn't great but the other good news is that it plays through with no skips or sticks (on my cheap turntable but this isn't a guarantee that it will be same on others). However, I'm afraid it's all downhill from here! The sleeve has seen better days (see pics), scuffed with a taped spine and damage front/bottom (see pic) and small splits. To be honest, I've seen worse though. The vinyl has lots of marks/scratches, some feelable, but as I've said it (surprisingly?) plays through without skips or jumps but with plenty of crackle mainly noticeable in the quieter bits. In the main though this is not a quiet album so the loudness off the music does it's best to mask the crackle.
I've been as honest as I can with the description and it's definitely not one for the purists, but if you want to own a (just) playable original copy of a classic 60's album (definitely ranks in my top 10) at an affordable price (others available @ £100-£300 on EBay) then this could be for you. Definitely a 'collection filler' though.
