UK pressed Island Records stereo LP, ILPS 9089.
Matrix numbers: ILPS 9089 A-3U / ILPS 9089 B-3U
Mothers / Stampers: 1 GT / 1 RG
'PORKY' and 'PECKO' etched into both dead wax / run off areas.
This LP was originally issued on the pink Island label, although this pink rim reissue is very early, and still boasts superior sound quality, having come from very early mothers and stampers.
Vinyl is in strong near mint condition. With the aid of a magnifying glass I can detect just a couple of wispy spider trail marks at centre spindle areas. Vinyl surfaces have a rich and bright gloss and are free of any marks. LP appears to have been very little played and very carefully handled.
Playback throughout is superb. The early pressing is rich and vibrant and there is no distortion. The surfaces are impressively quiet, and free of ticks or clicks. There is not even any of the gentle crackle which is often found on these Island pressings.
Labels are bright and clean, and free of smudges, finger marks etc.
Plain white inner sleeve in excellent condition.
Main unlaminated gatefold sleeve has also survived in very clean condition, and grades a strong EX plus. Still very crisp and firm and has clearly been well stored and little handled. Front, rear and inner panels are all clean, bright and unmarked. When angled in front of a light source the front and rear panels show no scrapes or dinks. No sticker, pen or other unsightly marks. Spine is in superb condition and has not suffered fading or wear. Just fractional rubbing to head and foot of spine, but this is really to an absolute minimum. Entry side very crisp and firm, and not feathered or dinked.
All in all, a really super early issue of this landmark Blues Rock LP which should satisfy the most demanding of collectors.

A Note On Grading:Note that audio grading is subjective and based on sensitivity of equipment used for playback. In this instance playback has been tested on a vintage Technics Quartz Direct Drive SL1700 MKII turntable with Shure cartridge, Technics SU-C 03 amp and Technics SB-F2 Linear Phase speakers.
Also note that I generally do not clean vinyl unless so noted. Most vinyl will show improved playback quality with your preferred cleaning method, but I leave this to the prospective buyer, as controversy still surrounds the ideal method of cleaning vinyl.
