Description

FREED – Freed. Orpheus Records, ORPH 008, Danish release. NEW LP. ENCLOSURE:  B&W scrapbook insert of photos and articles about the band (in Danish), except for the backpage which gives the band’s history in English. MEMBERS:  Leif Frederiksen, Helmuth Ozolins, Danny Andersen, Leif Iversen, and Klaus Glumer. TRACKS:  Girlfriend, Visions, Natten Solen Dagen, After The War, I Want You, Motorcycle, Dreamgirl, Tribute To Carlos, and The End. DESCRIPTION:  Danish band formed in 1968 by guitarist Leif Frederiksen. The average age of its members, at this point, was 16. The band started as Free, but since the UK group of the same name got famous ahead of them they changed their name to Freed. They played with most of the famous Danish bands and foreign bands of the time, which brought them to the attention of one of Denmarks leading labels. At this point, in 1970, the band went into the studio and recorded their debut album. The final result was not quite what the label had expected and the band did not want to compromise, so the album remained unissued until the present day. They had a floating psychedelic sound wrapped around some decent melodies and rhythms. As popular as they were in their day the band has never gotten as much as a parentheis in Danish rock history.  If you have any questions concerning the grading or if you have additional information, especially corrections, to the description, please e-mail me.  PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER CURRENTLY LISTED ITEMS.
