"This record. was produced from the original three track master session tape. The playback machine was an Ampex 300 Series three track recorder totally retubed rebuilt to the highest standards available today. The three tracks were mixed to two, using a modified Perfectionist Audio Components Pro Reference Tube Preamp. The signal was fed from the preamp directly into the lathe, bybpassing the mixing console and all equalizers, thus eliminating one more set of unnecessary electronic coloration." NO digital here.... I recently read one "classically trained"reviewer's notes wherein he recommended buying the CD rather than listening to MP3 versions because of MUCH less compression - "A word to the wise: get the CD instead of the MP3. The problem with MP3is that they are so compressed you only get 10-20% fidelity of themusic."
I MAY HAVE AN EVEN BETTER IDEA - WHY NOT GO "OLD SCHOOL" AND GET THE BEST VERSION - BUY PURE ANALOGUE LPs WHERE THERE IS NO DIGITAL INVOLVED AT EITHER END, AND NO COMPRESSION. But you have to be careful - a LOT of Vinyl created since the late 70's - 80's has been mastered digitally, so you'd be just as well off buying the CD.
