Early 1980s Neue Deutsche Welle on the brilliant Zickzack label from Hamburg. After the serious excesses of prog and stadium rock this wave came as a welcome relief to us, like punk did for you a few years earlier. It was amanteurish, playful, experimental, provocative, simple - and fun. No sentimental hippy shit. It reassured us that Rock'n'Roll does not need adults deciding what's right or wrong. And that's what Rock'n'Roll is all about, isn't it.
