Description
Hello, and welcome to auction items from Chicago’s Wax Trax! Records.
We have been picking through the Wax Trax! archives and have a few rare items that we would like to make available to collectors for the first time.
For those wondering about the influential store & label, Wax Trax! first opened its Chicago location in 1978 by founders Jim Nash & Dannie Flesher. The store focused primarily on experimental, unusual or hard to find collectables and quickly became the center of underground punk, new wave and experimental music & culture throughout the Midwest.
Using the momentum of the the store’s success, Nash & Flesher branched out into the seminal record label in 1980. Early pivotal artists such as FRONT 242, Ministry, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Front Line Assembly, COIL, Laibach, and so many other electronic pioneers had their beginnings with Jim & Dannie and Wax Trax! Records. The label's contribution to what has now become known as "Industrial Music" cannot be overstated.
What we have here is another rare piece from 2014. This screened test print was initially created for the FRONT 242 Take One/ Deluxe Box Edition (WAX 9197)
These prints were originally cut down and divided into 2 sets (3 images and 1 ticket per box) We managed to save a few from the chopping block for our archives and are pleased to offer one here for the first time ever. Never commercially available. When they're gone...they're really gone.
Test print of FRONT 242/ Wax Trax! era Images include:
- Moment Of Terror
- Front By Front
- Geography
- Official Version
- WORK! 242
- Endless Riddance
- Plus 4 color versions of the original 1984 MEDUSAS ticket from the band's first US show.
- Printed on heavy cardstock
A great, unusual piece of Wax Trax! and FRONT 242 history, and something special for any 242/Wax Trax! fan.
All proceeds from these upcoming WT auctions will be used to help fund the forthcoming Wax Trax! documentary. This film traces the arc of Wax Trax! Records throughout the 80‘s & 90‘s as well as the influence of Jim, Dannie as well as all the ground breaking artists that called Wax Trax! home.
