Description
FROZEN TEAR The Hunter / You know what has to be Mega Rare 7” Private Psych / acid folk 1969
on RA 5001 - The first pressing by tiny Westcountry record label who were also home of Faraway folk in later years.
FROZEN TEAR were from Plymouth and consisted of Leeson Burt, Tony Way,John Morgan and Paul Riley . They shared stages with the likes of the Move and Fleetwood Mac.
This is their first single - The A side is searing cover of FREE’S stormer The Hunter from their Debut album Tons of Sobs with some great guitar work .
The B side however is an original composition by guitarist and vocalist Tony Way and is wonderful example of the finest blissed out UK Psych acid folk from the 60s
with great production values particularly considering this was the first pressing from a very small label with only 99 copies pressed .
There is a soundclip on Youtube if you would like to hear a flavour of this exceptional single www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVz43Gb5-Ms
CONDITION is a strong VERY GOOD -There are several very light surface marks on both sides which are faintly just audible in the quietest sections
There is a slightly more noticible mark on the A side - but again it is virtually inaudible
Labels are in Excellent Condition with just very faint signs of wear .
RA dropped the Gold label after this issue as it proved too expensive - Which is a shame
as it is a distinctive and memorable design .
The single was issued in a generic white sleeve which is in Excellent condition with just
slight age browning at the edges ( This is after all some 43 years old ! )
So there we are - A considerable rarity with real musical merit - And one which deserves to be far better known .
You will be pleased to learn there is no reserve and a lowish starting price
Many thanks for reading and good luck with your bids !
