Description

SETTLE IN FOR A LONG RUN OF COLLECTABLE LPs OF VARIOUS MUSICAL STYLES!! This is a reasonably priced mid-1960s thick rigid vinyl deep groove pressing of the 1959 Folkways Records LP titled 'Furry Lewis', a collection of remembrances and eight new 1959 recordings featuring Memphis TN bottleneck / slide guitar blues pioneer Furry Lewis, recorded in Memphis TN on October 3, 1959 and annotated by Samuel B. Charters. It is Folkways Records catalog number FS 3823, blue Folkways Records labels. The package also includes an 4-page insert written by Samuel B. Charters with background information on Furry Lewis and song lyrics. Record comes packaged in a thick cardboard album cover, in the usual Folkways Records style with an oversized front cover slick extending to the back cover over a textured paper cover. Cover is divided inside by a thin cardboard insert, behind which the included insert is found.  Tracks: Longing Blues, John Henry, I Will Turn Your Money Green, Early Recording Career Remembrances, Pearlee Blues, Judge Boushay Blues, I'm Going To Brownsville, The Medicine Show Remembrances, Casey Jones, East St. Louis Blues.  Visual condition of record is a mid VG+ with all original gloss and some light surface marks, none of which can be felt and none of which affect play. Condition of 4-page insert is a mid VG+ with one crease, a few slight wrinkles, and some slight signs of use. Condition of cover is a mid VG+ with a 1-1/2" split in the middle of the top edge, one small stain on the back cover, a little contact wear, and a little general wear along the edges and on the corners. There are no tears, writing, or stickers.  This scarce vintage classic gem would be an essential choice addition to any blues record collection! Winning bidder pays $3.00 media mail postage or actual priority mail postage within the U.S. I WILL SHIP WORLDWIDE - Uninsured first class international airmail postage to the UK or anyplace in Europe is $13.50 - Please e-mail me for postage rates to other areas outside the U.S. WINNING BIDDER PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH - IT PROBABLY WILL NOT GET HERE!
