Description
This is an original first press with the black logo format on Island, not the orange eyeball logo version which does not exist for this album. The matrix numbers are ILPS 9102 A1 and B1. First pressings on this format label are seldom seen and especially in this condition.
The disc itself has a high gloss sheen, no scratching at all and minimal paper scuffing (please check photographs). The labels are in excellent condition with a minimal amount of spindle marking and no centre hole wear. There is no marking to the labels and no sticker marks.
The inner polylined sleeve is the original British Patent offering and is in excellent condition.
This sleeve is notoriously found in a very worn condition but this copy is a very good version. There is a small amount of damage to the front face of the cover caused by sticker damage, but there is no eveidence of record impression to either front or back. There is a tiny amount of corner wear but this is minimal. There is some wear to the spine but again this is minimal for a record of this age. The sleeve is manufactured by Ernest J Day in England.
This album has been in my private collection since I bought it in 1969. It has been stored upright in custom built shelving in dry, dust free conditions away from light and heat. To my knowledge it has not been played for the last 35 years.
This a great collectors item, and in my opinion this is Fairport's greatest album but is sometimes overlooked.
