Fairport Convention - Unhalfbricking Vinyl LP - UK First Issue.

Selling-up my extensive record collection. Lots of interesting records in the collection - do have a look at my other items, and there are new listings every week. I may have obscure things that you didn't even know you wanted!

The first Fairports album I ever bought, and a very good place to start. This record is the first issue, from 1969.

Pictures are my own photos of the items for sale. Photos are part of the description, have a good look.

Cover - is good, not split, torn or written-on. Front is nice - being picky, there's an old slight bent to the right of the church tower, which has picked up some grubbiness, and it may be a little discoloured along top and spine edge. There's a scallop crease next to the old gent's elbow. Wear around the edges, spine is only partially legible. Back is formed to the shape of the record, with some loss of ink on the image and black areas. There are creases to the bottom two corners, where these have gotten bent over at some time long ago.

Record - On side one, a light scratch across track 4, and another light one going from track 3 into track 4. There's a mark along the grooves on track 3, and a tiny mark at the start of track two. There's another (proper!) long scratch across track 3 touching into track 4. On side two, two light scratches that start in track one and go into track 2. Three light scratches on track 3, one of which continues across track 4. There's a scratch along the grooves on track 3, and a long light scratch from track two to the end of the side. The more one looks at this, the more things one finds to describe, but that's enough for now - I get tired, and readers might get bored! I have done a play-test, of side two - seriously  loud, while typing this - track 1 sounds very good, with some crackles, some background, some a bit louder, but much of it isn't crackly. Track 2, which is quite loud, plays very well. Track 3, "Autopsy" has loud crackles / clicks, around the end of the first vocal part, and into following instrumental passage and second vocal part - and is a bit crackly in general. " A Sailor's Life", the final track, has noticeable crackles at the start, but gets a lot better after the first vocal part (and as the track gets louder). I was a bit concerned about the scratch on track 3 on side one, so I've listened to that part, too. I heard crackling at the end of the previous track. The track 3 that I'm thinking about is the wonderful "Percy's Song". It actually plays very well indeed, with no general crackling, light crackles at the start, and just a couple of noticeable clicks, close together. Last track also plays very well.

At this start price, and if you can stand some crackling, this is an enjoyable copy of a wonderful album.

When I'm checking for damage on records, I look at them carefully with my reading glasses on, in good daylight. This method detects any bits of damage that will affect what you hear when listening to it - and lots that are not audible. Using a spotlight or direct sunlight shows more surfacey marks sometimes, but I don't do that - records are for listening to, not trying to see your face in.

Postage at cost within UK - £3.00 plus 50p for a proper record mailer with two stiffener sheets of cardboard. Happy to do combined postage wherever practical. I'll charge you what it costs me - so anything up to six (or so) LPs would still be the same £3.50.

Dispatch will usually be "next day".

I don't mail things personally, to countries outside the UK - ( I mean it, don't ask) - but I am happy to use E-Bay UK's Global Shipping Program, for sending things abroad. Under this scheme, I send the parcel to an e-bay depot in UK, and they forward it to the overseas buyer.

They have a tracked courier service, for the journey from their UK depot, to the buyer.

This means that I can ONLY accept payments through e-bay (Pay Now button), and I can't send invoices.

E-Bay UK tells me, they do NOT do combined postage in the Global Shipping Programme. Charges to the customer for delivery are whatever you're told they are - if you don't want to pay the postal / courier charges individually for the items, then do not bid.

Overseas customers - please DON'T request an invoice - there is no combined postage, I can't make one, and it screws-up the e-bay system.

International buyers should be able to see a postage cost to their country, you may have to input your location, if your country is included in the scheme.

If your country is not mentioned, please do not bid.

International postage plus applicable customs charges will probably be shown to buyers in non-EU countries - E-Bay collects customs duty for the receiving country: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Russia and USA, and wherever else import duty is appropriate - e.g. Norway. I don't send to China.
