This auction is for an original 1956 Blue Note recording, THE FABULOUS FATS NAVARRO VOLUME 1, BLP 1531. The 12 inch is the version with 47 West 63rd St. NYC on label, 33 1/3 microgroove Long Playing, written at top of label. There is no groove guard. The LP is in near mint- condition. There is minor surface dust, no apparent scratches and RVG and ear mark in dead wax. The cover appears VG, as there is a slit approximately 4 inches at top corner opening, shelf wear at bottom and spine and a match stick opening at bottom back corner.
The record came from the estate of a close friend and my guess is he played it one or two, possibly three times. His stereo system was a high end Thorens and Nacamichi system so when these records were played it was on a good sound turntable. The former owner also had a jazz radio show on the local Public Radio Station so he might have played this on the air. Anyway, I know for a fact this record has been kept in a climate controlled room (constant 75 degrees year round) for the last 20 years, so there is no warping. This and the other records in this collection have not been played for at least 10 years probably longer and need to be in the hands of collectors who know how to take care of and appreciate them.
I have not played the LP, but will update you if I do. I have learned from experience record grading can be highly subjective. That said, there are NO MAJOR scratches, NO apparent surface wear due to abuse of the playing surface. I decided not to try to clean it. I'll leave further care up to the new owner. At the risk of being redundant, for the purposes of this auction and because record care and standards vary form person to person, I will guarantee this LP asVG++. I'd guarantee the cover VG.
I have now listened to the LP and it sounds good. There are minimal static sounds (possibly from the dust or fingerprints), no skips or hesitations. I believe the sounds could be taken care of with proper cleaning.
THE FINE PRINT: RETURN POLICY
If you are the high bidder and I ship it to you and you are not happy here's the deal: I will accept the record back and give you a full refund including your shipping cost PROVIDED (read this carefully) you return the record to me in the exact condition I shipped it. I have taken several close up pictures to verify the condition prior to shipping. You can take the record out and look at examine it and play it, but if you play it and scratch it, then you own it.
If you're just looking for the music, please, buy one of the CD collections offered at other EBay stores. I'm not trying to be difficult; I just don't want any misunderstandings. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to write. GOOD LUCK BIDDING!
