Description

Sons of Moses

Deviled Egg / Alpine Winter

BIX International

USA

Here is a rare opportunity to pick up one of the rawest, filthiest and heaviest organ drenched funk burners out there. Introducing the Sons of Moses with their heavy, heavy monster sound comprised simply of a clockwork like organ at fulltilt beneath that stupid filthy relentless drum beat which just doesn’t stop til the closing seconds on this scarce 45 on BIX International. The label released one other 45 by the same crew simply changing the flip to an anomalous filler.

Sons of Moses is of course the legendary soul vocalist, Moses Dillard backed by his session men and together they form a nasty brew of raw and moody low slung Funk delivering yet another take on the RnB standard Dead as made popular by Caroline Sullivan when she added her melancholy vocals to the instrumental. There are numerous versions of this track but this for me is the heaviest as it truly sounds like an unrefined Funk outtake which was considered too raw to release!

Vinyl - Strong VG+ nothing bad to report but all BIX recordings are somewhat low.

Cover - VG+ plain paper sleeve.
