Description
Flip Phillips, Mercury MG C-105, Mono 10" 33 1/13 RPM
Supervised by Norman Granz, Trumpeter Logo
This album is part of Sweet Melissa Records' posting of Jazz & Blues 10" 33 1/3 vinyl this week! In the words of Verve records founder and jazz impresario Norman Granz, "This is the Flip's album. This is it." Recording under the personal supervision of Norman Granz. Numbered among the quartet are Phillips, saxophone; Hank Jones, piano; Ray Brown, bass; and Buddy Rich, drums. Vinyl is in good condition, but do expect to hear some noticeable surface noise on playback. Unfortunately, this record is not in its mint condition. Nonetheless, this is one of the fabulous instances of a band of household names behind an underrated, under-recorded leader. A great find!
