Description
Here we have SEVEN Mega-Rare Fonotipia, Odeon and G&T Operatic rarities in horrible (but just-about-playable) condition, PLUS a bunch of good clean extra ones to make up the parcel.
All the discs pictured have got some sort of major BLEMISH but at this low low price, they’re still collectable and enjoyable.. PLUS you’ll get those nice extra discs FREE in good condition!
Here’s what you’ll get:
1. Rosina Storchio and Ida Rappini. Arias from Linda Di Chamonix and La Boheme. FONOTIPIA 92775/92861 (prob. 1911) Severe edge chip see photo. (Chip JUST misses the grooves on one side but removes about 2 or 3 grooves on the other). Rare as heck.
2. Benvenuto Franci. Arias from Traviata and Dinorah (not listed anywhere I looked) PHONOTYPE C2320/8 (prob 1920) Severe edge chip before music starts. Rare as heck.
3. Enrico Caruso. Siciliana (Mascagni) HMV single-sided 7-52018. (1910) Severe MENDED edge chip. Nowhere near the music.
4. Charles Rousseliere. Grand Air Herodiade & Henri Weber Chanson du Semeur. DISQUE ODEON 33070/33173 (approx 1904). Rousseliere jumps on my light pickup. Weber has a longish needle dig.
5. Marcelle Demougeot. Caro Nome & Depuis Le Jour. ROYAL ODEON RO726 (1909). Both sides “Swish” at start because of water or heat damage.
6. Victor Maurel. FONOTIPIA TEST PRESSING. 39032 & 39042 (1904). Both sides are something from “Othello”, I think. Remains of a pasted-on extra label. Dirty great CRACK across 3” of playing surfaces. Plays on my wind-up. Rare as heck.
7. Leon Beyle & Antoinette Laute Brun Black G&T GC 335663 (1905). Duet from Gounod’s “Faust”. One “stick” at beginning and much blasting throughout.
This is a collection that (according to the inter-web) would cost many of your Earth pounds if in excellent condition. But they ain’t excellent. They are pretty darn poor, but they DO play, although far from perfectly.
The extra free discs (Caruso, Galli-Curci etc) will be much cleaner and tidier, and play very well, but they won’t be as ALARMINGLY RARE.

I'm selling most of this stuff for much less than I paid for it.

The 78s in the photographs are the 78s you will get PLUS SOME OTHER ONES. You will NOT get Mr Fuffy, the one-eyed feral cat who always turns up when I’m photographing things in the garden.
