This sale is for a hard to find album by the band Fools Face. It’s titled Tell America. It’s on Talk Records and it

was released back in 1981.

I do not know a lot about the history of this band. I believe the guys were from somewhere in MO based on info given in the album. However I might be incorrect. This is some of the best 1980s Power Pop I have personally heard. This would also be enjoyed by fans of The Knack, The Dwight Twilley Band, Phil Seymour, The Shoes and probably the Greg Kihn Band as well.

The jacket is not in anywhere near mint condition. It shows some wear and rubbing in various places on the jacket. It has a little staining and a little bit ring wear as well.

There is a split along the top of the cardboard sleeve that could be easily glued and I thought about doing it. However I felt it would be better if the new owner did it so it didn’t appear I was hiding anything about its condition. The albums inner sleeve with lyrics and band info is in pretty good overall shape.However it does have a small tear, a few blemishes and wrinkles. Please see the included photos.

Before I became the owner of this record it had set in a dusty garage in a cardboard box with dozens of other albums since the mid 80s. So it was not stored professionally and this storage added to the albums outer cardboard covers condition.

Now the important part, how the record sounds.

I am not a professional record dealer and I don’t just look at the record to describe its condition. I play test every album I sell unless it’s sealed. I would not sell anything I would not be comfortable buying myself.This album does have a few visible blemishes, but does not have any deep scratches.

I played this album through several times and it does have some of the snap, crackle and pops that you hear in almost any vinyl record. However when the album was played they did not take away from enjoying the music. When I played the LP thru I did not hear any skips on either side. So overall the vinyl is in pretty good shape. When I played the album to me it was a really good and enjoyable listen. So honestly isn’t that the most important reason to buy a record?

I know how picky many vinyl listeners are,so I rate on the conservative side. I have purchased albums that the seller had said were in excellent or in near mint shape that were covered with sticky stains, had warps and or had skips. I do not rate any album mint unless it’s still sealed. We all hear with different ears. So I will give this albums condition or playability a VG or maybe VG+ as it might depend on your ears or stereo system. As I also mentioned the record is used,and over 40 years old. To my ears it sounds pretty good, I would be happy with its sound If I was the one to purchase it. I wouldn’t sell it to anyone unless it is in good enough shape that I would be happy owning it.

This is a very rare and hard to find album, you just do not see it very often. I have seen it selling for way higher than my pricing here.

I don’t know if the band produced any other albums than the two I have seen, or what the players went on to do after this band musically. I would be curious to know if anyone out there knows. I really think this was a fantastic band and album. By my ears should they should have been all over radio and huge!!
