Description

An original 1st press of the debut on the UK Island 1970 Pink Label. Matrix A2/B2. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue E J Day cover with the correct 'Basing Street' adress. Also included is a generic white inner from the time.
Vinyl (Vg+/Ex) In great condition and has mostly seen light use. Do be aware that there are a few light marks - a couple on Side 1 are just getting feelable and one does actually sound [see below].  A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. By and large playback is really quite impressive and this early pink Island copy totally nails the audio delivery. Please note, however one mark does sound so don't expect to maintain this standard the entire way through. The mark is across track 1 and causes a few ticks, pops, and crackle  - not horrendous - but it does tend to invade a bit toward the end of the track. The issue peters out reasonably quickly as track 2 starts up. Providing you can live with this aberration the remainder of the LP is absolutely knock-out.
Cover (Vg+) In great shape and has clearly been looked after down the years. Nice clean front without heavy creasing or wear - just a sticker removal mark in the extreme top-right corner. The rear is nice too with just some handling wear. The interior looks great - no issues at all. There's a bit of edge wear in places, but nothing excessive. Overall the cover still retains great rigidity.
Inner (Ex) No ageing or splits.
