Description

Here are four albums by the legendary Neil Young.  The first is After The Gold Rush, which is one of his most successful albums.  It was released on Reprise in 1970, number RS 6383.  The vinyl looks great, with only a few light surface scratches.  However, it plays with consistent background noise and grades at VG.  The gatefold album cover is in excellent condition.  There is a small scrape on the front cover in a spot where there may once have been a price tag.  And there is a brown spot on the top left of the back of the cover.  The corners show some light wear.  The seams are all intact.  The cover grades VG+.

Album Tracks:

Southern Man
Till The Morning Comes
Oh, Lonesome Me
Don’t Let It Bring You Down

The second album is Time Fades Away.  Young is supported by guest artists David Crosby and Graham Nash on this album.  It was released on Reprise in 1973, number MS 2151.  It includes the poster-size (22x33 inch) lyric sheet.  This album is in excellent condition.  The vinyl looks almost new, with only a couple of light surface scratches and smudges that do not affect play.  It plays with very light background noise and grades VG+.  The album cover is in excellent condition.  There is an illegible name written on the top right corner of the front of the cover.  The corners show some light wear.  All seams and edges are sharp and intact.  The cover grades VG+.

The third album is Old Ways.  This album is still in its original shrink wrap, though the shrink is starting to tear in a couple of spots.  It features a vocal duet with Willie Nelson.  It was released on Geffen in 1985, number GHS 24068.  This album is in beautiful condition.  The vinyl has a couple of very light cover scuffs that do not affect play.  The record plays with virtually no background noise and grades a strong VG+.  The album cover is in like new condition with sharp edges and corners.  It grades NM.

The fourth album is Long May You Run.  This is a Stephen Stills / Neil Young collaboration as the Stills-Young Band.  It was the only album they released as a duo.  It came out on Reprise in 1976, number MS 2253.  This album is in exceptional condition.  The vinyl appears brand new, with no scratches or scuffs.  It plays with virtually no background noise and grades NM.  The album cover also looks brand news with sharp corners and seams.  It has just a hint of ring wear on the top of the back of the cover.  It grades NM.

I always clean and then listen to every record I list on eBay.  I do this to make sure I can give as accurate a description of each record as possible.  I will do both a visual check and an audio check.  I will say that when it comes to the letter grade my inclination is always to give more preference to the sound of the record.  I’ve seen many records that had a few light scuffs so the vinyl did not look beautiful, but the album played like new.  In this case I may grade the vinyl as high as VG+.  And I have also seen records where the vinyl looked pristine, but upon playing I was hearing static or other background noise throughout.  At best that vinyl would be rated VG.  The only time I would rate an album  as NM is when it looks and plays as though it is brand new.  I absolutely attempt to give as objective a grading as I can.  I don’t ever want you to be disappointed in the quality of the album you receive.
