TEST PRESSING
Factory Sealed.
This RARE TEST PRESSING is factory sealed.
It was pressed at RTI in Camarillo in August, 2006.
This TEST PRESSING was remastered by Kevin Gray.
The reason that this remaster of the iconic Sinatra /
Ellington LP was not released is that the Sinatra
estate rejected the audio changes that Gray made.
Gray stated to me directly
that the original recording is a three track master.
Ellington is on two tracks; the left and right.
Sinatra was recorded on the third track.
Sinatra's voice is front and center on the original master
AND subsequent releases of this vinyl record.
Ellington and his band are placed well behind
Sinatra and this is clearly heard in the sound stage.
However, Gray's remaster pulls Ellington
and his band up to and with Sinatra.
These two giants now SHARE the stage.
The result is a MUCH MORE VIBRANT
AND DYNAMIC listening experience.
The band is ALIVE and powerful. I know because
I have several copies of this TEST PRESSING and
I listen to one quite often. Indeed, it is my demo
LP for Sinatra and big band. My friends all RAVE.
Because the Sinatra estate wants to preserve the
original SINATRA sound this remaster was killed
and never released.
There are only a VERY FEW copies of this test
pressing around (mostly in Los Angeles).
There are EVEN FEWER SEALED COPIES.
This auction is for one SEALED TEST PRESSING.
