Continuing my trawl through a box of library albums I’ve had sitting in the storeroom for a decade or so: A rare Bruton Music album composed and performed by Curved Air keyboardist Francis Monkman aided and abetted on one track by Hawkwind associate Adrian Wagner. The music is described on the sleeve as “ A Study In The Inter-reaction of digital sounds, rhythms and textures, combined to create new energy forces in music“. What that actually means is up tempo synthy rock with a full band type sound, some tracks very dramatic, others more atmospheric and occasionally a track which comes across like a lightweight Tangerine Dream.

One highly unusual feature of this album is that it is on bright blue vinyl! Coloured vinyl was always a sales gimmic used to sell records (usually as limited editions) to fans of a group or artist. Quite what the point of pressing an album which was never made available to the public on coloured vinyl is, is a bit of a mystery!

For those who don’t know music library albums were produced for distribution to TV and radio production companies to provide ready made incidental music. They were made in small numbers and were never available to the public. Subsequently library albums are among the hardest records to track down with some titles selling for very large amounts of music on the rare occasions that they surface, I’m not after huge amounts of money for this one though!

The sleeve is in Excellent condition. The front cover is clean with no real damage or wear of any type, no writing, no tears, a couple of tiny very light creases coming in from the spine which are of no consquence, no ringwear or any other type of wear.

The rear sleeve is in similar nice condition with no damage or wear of any type..

Both top and bottom seams have a few sporadic spots of wear but nothing serious.

The record itself is also in excellent condition, It’s extremely clean with no visible surface marks anywhere, even when held under a very revealing harsh lamp. When played the sound is clear and clean with no audible defects of any type present, no groovewear or distortion, no jumping or sticking, no clicks, pops or crackles just a really good audio performance.

Price includes UK postage, overseas postage extra. Payment by cheque preferred from UK buyers but paypal is available if necessary, overseas buyers must use paypal. Sorry but I will not post anything to Canada under any circumstances.
