Description
Francois Bayle, Erosphere (LP, INA-GRM 1982)
This rare LP is in mint condition – it ain’t dirty, it ain’t scuffed, dented, smushed, rubbed, spindled, mutalated or finger printed - The album has been has been stored in a 4 mil polyethylene 12'' record jacket sleeve since I bought it new many years ago. The inner record sleeve has been upgraded to a polylined paper sleeve – the gate-fold still has a little crack to it - the front cover is clean and untarnished – there is no sign of ring wear or scuffing – the back cover is as clean and clear as the front – I’d say over all it has exceptional storage and usage wear – I bought this LP new many years ago for my personal collection and it has been taken care of and played properly. The vinyl itself is mint.

French composer (27 April 1932, Tamatave, Madagascar). Studied in Bordeaux (1946–54), at the Paris Conservatoire, with Olivier Messiaen (1958–9) and at the Darmstadt summer courses (1960–62) with Karlheinz Stockhausen, among others. Joined the Service de la recherche of Organisation de la radio télévision Française (ORTF) in 1960, recently established by Pierre Schaeffer. In 1966 Schaeffer put Bayle in charge of the Groupe de recherches musicales (GRM). From then on he remained active as a composer, an administrator and a music theorist. During these years he organized concerts, radio broadcasts, seminars and events celebrating individual composers, supported technological developments (Syter, GRM Tools, Midi Formers, Acousmographe) and was behind major innovations, such as the Acousmonium (an orchestra of loudspeakers) and the INA-GRM recordings label. He also founded in 1992 the Acousmathèque with a repertory of 2000 works composed after 1948. After leaving GRM in 1997, he founded his own audio-numerical and multiphonic studio, the Studio Magison, where he has devoted himself to research, writing and composition.
Probably the most musical recording of Bayle. The dronesque sinewaves add huge depth and harmonic quality to Bayle's trademark concrete sound. Beautiful !
