The Frank Lowe Orchestra - Lowe & Behold LP rare jazz w/ Chadbourne, Zorn, etc
Here is one of the most rare Frank Lowe recordings out there, "Lowe & Behold!" Released in 1978 on the amazing Musicworks label, this 11 piece ensemble features the unique talents of Philip Wilson, Joseph Bowie and John Lindberg, Billy Bang, "Butch" Morris, Arthur Williams, Polly Bradfield, Eugene Chadborne Peter Kuhn and the now notorious young upstart John Zorn! In fact, this is Mr. Zorn's earliest appearance on wax, though you can find some super early stuff of his on the "Parachute" Years CD box set. This is like "Chamber Jazz" if the chamber was being bombarded by flaming meteorites and populated by an assortment of warriors from across the galaxy in various stages of battle and peace. The music is a cosmic collision between the late 60's AACM spirituality and the NYC Downtown freejazzcore ethic, all contained in Frank Lowe's mysterious grasp. Lowe is a character that seems to often get overlooked. Perhaps it's because he didn't stay in one strict musical vein. Regardless, this shows him as a trailblazer as well as an artist who really transcended genres and so called "scenes." This document is woefully out of print, and highly sought after by free jazzers, especially Zorn-heads! Don't miss out on a chance to get a truly rare and timeless album by these inspired musicians!
