Description
“Frank Sinatra Reads From Gunga Din” is an ultra rare one sided 8” acetate released in 1966 for Reprise records. This is an original test pressing so presumably only a handful of these were ever made and this one is in excellent condition. A holy grail for Sinatra fans. The finished product 8 inch that reprise eventually put out was only pressed in a condition of 300
From record collector magaine
"There’s the mooted follow-up to Strangers In The Night, Frank Sinatra Reads From Gunga Din, a 1966 single so odd that it made Good Vibrations seem positively Eurovision. The problem is it’s not very good; it starts and ends with Sinatra reading Kipling’s poem, with a sound collage of a bugler being slowly mutilated in between. Sinatra was adamant that he wanted this released as the next single after the international No 1 that had put him back on the hit parade after several years away. And he ran the record label – he could release what he wanted! Someone else at Reprise had the sense to press 300 copies, make out that it was a proper single, and hope that Frank quickly forgot all about it. Which he duly did."
