Description



An original 1st press of HOT RATS! on the UK Reprise Tricolour label from 1969. Matrix A1/B1 - very 1st cut. Please note label design is consistent with very 1st press and the distribution statement at 9'oclock on the labels has been redacted. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover with the correct Bizarre and Reprise catalogue numbers at 1st release. Also included is the original plastic bag warning inner sleeve date coded to October 1969 [109] just a couple of months before 1st release in the UK. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks either side - nothing troublesome though.  A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. An absolute blindingly good copy straight out of the doors. Intros and inbetweens are practically silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Difficult to imagine bettering this copy...it just nails it perfectly. Interference is almost non-existent. Expect a few crackles in a couple of isolated spots. The only thing I could detect, in addition to this, was a couple of pops at the start of 'CAMEL'. A classic Zappa rendition with little to find fault with. 
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and has clearly been looked after down the years. Very nice clean with only some light handling - much better looking than most '69 covers! Ditto the rear very little even noteworthy. The interior is excellent too with just a small name written in the extreme top corner of the right panel. Edge wear is reasonably light and the text on the spine still legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Very little ageing. No markings or splits - just a bit of creasing.
