Record: Red vinyl limited to 150 copies - released sometime between 1970 and 1974. A few light hairline marks, with one much longer one on side one which is really hard to see. This is NOT a beat copy with big heavy gauges. Record plays really well. There is some surface background noises detectable, particularly to the run ins and quieter sections (of which there are few), which is fairly common on played records, but no obvious pops. Play tested using a high quality Linn turntable. Side 1: Sharleena, Twinkle Tits, Diectly from My Heart To You, Side 2: The Clap.

Cover: Reasonable - thick, yellow card with discoloration to front and back; not dissimilar to foxing on a book. Original TMOQ ‘gold’ sticker has a small tear to the top. Light spin wear on top and bottom seam. Back cover has the original ‘pin’ sheet explaining “Recorded at the Olympic Auditorium, LA ... First concert performance of the Hot Rats”.

Band:

· Frank Zappa - Electric Guitar, Vocals

· Max Bennett - Electric Bass

· Don "Sugarcane" Harris - Electric Violin, Vocals

· Ian Underwood - Keyboards, Alto Saxophone

· Aynsley Dunbar – Drums

History: After Frank Zappa disbanded the Mothers of Invention, he recorded and performed under his own name before re-forming the group. This release documents part of a concert at Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles on 7th Mar 1970, with Zappa leading a sensational quintet. The music includes smoking versions of "Sharleena" and "Directly from My Heart to You"(though the vocals are a tad distant), plus the world premiere of "Twinkle Tits," a sizzling instrumental jam that incorporates the main theme from "Little House I Use to Live In," and a long but never dull exploration of "Chunga's Revenge." Zappa's guitar playing is superb, as is the blistering blues violin of Don "Sugar Cane" Harris, who was only with Zappa briefly and not featured with him on any other live recordings.
