Description
here is the story of lather and how it was not released for years.
this is the original collectors vinyl pressing of lather. 4LP,s on Edison records. with the zappa crappa poster 11x17 that came in box.
now, this was recorded off the radio when Frank Zappa and Warner Brothers records where in court battling over who has the rights to the music that eventually made it onto lather,
frank wanted to get out of his contract with warner brothers, he had 4 LPS to complete his contract and in the lovely Frank way he gave them this 4 LP Super Masterpiece. that they turned down. frank fulfilled his contract and since warners did not want lather
Frank took the Masters over to Mercury/ phonogram and they said yes! we will not only take them we will give you your own record label called Zappa records we will press your records and we will distribute your records, Frank said fantastic and planned on releasing the lather November 1977.
Warner Brothers heard that mercury did this and said we are not going to let you do that so they took the submasters and cut them up and mixed them horribly and put them out as sleep dirt, orchestral favorites, and live in New York,
Warners released them without Franks permission (as frank said on his stint as host on Saturday night live) made horrible record covers and gave no credits.
what happened after that Frank went to A radio station and said Warner Brothers is doing stuff to me
