Freddie Hubbard "Goin' Up" Blue Note 4056, original Mono vinyl LP.
This is the deep-groove, “RVG”-stamped, 1960 original Mono, Deep Groove pressing of Freddie Hubbard's "Goin' Up" on the Blue Note Records 47 West 63rd NYC labels of BLP 4056. “P” or “ear” present in deadwax. Musicians include Hubbard, Hank Mobley, McCoy Tyner, Paul Chambers and "Philly" Joe Jones.
The vinyl has consistent pops and ticks over varying degrees of light-to-medium surface noise. As with all early Blue Note pressings, the instruments are rich, tonally lush, clear, very dynamic and strong. Medium level ticks can be heard throughout, but even in the ballad-oriented tracks, they don't detract from the music. No skips, no distortion. Deep Groove labels on both sides. Side 1, track 1 has a 1/2" audible scratch. Side 2,track 1 has three small feelable scratches. Original foldover inner sleeve. A very dynamic recording and a strong pressing. The Cover is in excellent condition, very good gloss, perfect spine, perfect top and bottom seams. Good corners, lower right slight tear. Hole punch top right through the jacket. Minor discoloration and slight water on the "43 West 61st St., NY 23" back jacket. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters).
