This is an auction of a very rare ORIGINAL Blue Note JAZZ CLASSIC - Freddie Redd - Shades of Redd - ORIGINAL BLUE NOTE 4045 MONO with the 47 WEST 63rd DG deep groove labels. Engineered by Rudy Van Gelder - an "ear" and 'RVG" stamped in the deadwax trailoff of both sides. A rare and great jazz classic and Blue Note rarity. With Freddie Redd, Jackie McLean, Tina Brooks, Paul Chambers and Louis Hayes. The music and the performance are truely phenominal and the Van Gelder sound recording is absolutely great. Record is visually graded as VG+ side 1 with just a few marks and Mint- side 2 - BIDDERS NOTE - THIS RECORD PLAY GRADES MINT- EXCEPT FOR ABOUT THE FIRST MINUTE - THERE IS A 1/4" SCRATCH AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF SIDE 1 AND THIS PRODUCES TICKS THAT ARE HEARD FOR ABOUT THE FIRST MINUTE - AFTER THAT THE RECORD IS VERY QUIET MINT- QUALITY.

Cover is VG++ due to very slight wear at the upper left corner tip, an old price sticker at lower right and a name written on back upper left.
