RARE French Broadcasting System in N.A Transcription Jacques Dumont 199/200 2LP EX+ Transcription Tolia Nikiprowetzky / Gerard Massias / Jacques Dumont / Louis Perlemuter / Charles Pray (Charles Frey) / Dawia Bender / Jean Grout.1969
Jacques Dumont played on the very rare box set MOZART A PARIS
Produced in Paris with English-speaking announcers, these shows reflected an unlikely alliance between French and American producers, talent, and U.S. independent broadcasters seeking variety and access to international programs. Many performances were recording using various conductors and soloists at the Paris L'O.R.T.F. FBS ceased providing these programs in 1974, when France dissolved its public broadcast monopoly. Several of these musical works were recorded for the first time - or only once - for this program.
These records were made in pairs so there would be two programs on two records. That way the radio station engineer could cue up the programs second half without having to interrupt the show by turning the record over. Many of these recordings are rare and obscure.
Each program has a short English language introduction before the piece is played and sometimes at the very end - each side of each record is 13 to 15+ minutes in length. The records are in their original simple white sleeve - they were not issued with traditional covers. For the most part the records are sharp and clean with very light signs of handling or wear - played perhaps 4-5 times.
French Music and French Musicians Program No. 199 Tolia Nikiprowetzki Nikiprowetzki - String Quartet composed in 1961 3 movements - Quatuor a cordes (26:05) - I found the one reference to these two programs and this was listed -- Jacques Dumont, Louis Perlemuter, violins ; Alain Banquart (Alain Bancquart), Robert Salles, violoncellos.
Gerard Massias - Tjurunga IV pour trio à cordes et comédian (28:00) recorded 1969 / Trio à Cordes de Paris ; Pierre Roussear (Pierre Rousseau ?), comédian. The Paris String Quartet. A truly experimental work - inspired by the Australian Aboriginal stone questing - this 4th part of work was commissioned by the Avignon Festival in 1968 where it was first performed - this recording is expanded from the 1968 performance and may be the only recording of this work. I believe these are the performers Charles Pray (Charles Frey); Dawia Bender and Jean Grout.
