Fruit Eating Bears – Door In My Face (DJM Records DJS 10857) [7”]

 

The Fruit Eating Bears were Neville Crozier (vocals / guitar), Gary Croudance (bass / vocals) and Chris Crash (drums) who came from the Croydon area and were originally known as The Bicycles Turds before high-jacking the name of a little known 60's beat group, who's drummer Kenny Mundye was the band's original drummer before Chris Crash joined.

 

The band’s publishers Jackson Music bizarrely entered 'Door In My Face' in 'A Song For Europe', the UK heat for 'The Eurovision Song Contest'. The Fruit Eating Bears performed the track on national TV, introduced by Terry Wogan but unfortunately they finished joint 11th (out of 12). Terry Wogan, in this first encroachment of punk into Eurovision, described the band as "gentle creatures despite their fierce appearance".

The 7” vinyl (DJM Records DJS 10857) is in very good condition. The company sleeve is in very good condition but has a couple of small tears on the front open edge.
