Fruupp were a Belfast-based progressive rock group who issued four albums between 1973 and 1975, with 'Modern Masquerades' their final effort.
Featuring a line-up of Vincent McCusker (vocals, guitar), Peter Farrelly (vocals, flute, bass), John Mason (keyboards) and Martin Foye (drums, percussion), 'Modern Masquerades' is generally considered the group's next best LP after their outstanding self-titled debut from 1973, and features two of their best known songs in 'Gormenghast' and 'Janet Planet'.
The group built up a strong following in the UK, and toured frequently, often as a supporting act to the likes of Genesis, Yes and Queen, winning over audiences with their delicate brand of symphonic prog.
Those who enjoy classic-era progressive rock, and particularly the symphonic side of the genre - think ELP, Renaissance, Beggars Opera, Illusion, Asgaerd, Fantasy and Greenslade - will find much to admire on all four of Fruupp's excellent albums.
