Description
Please note: I am relisting this lp today because ebay pulled the item half way through the auction because they said I breached the rules regarding my wording about which payment methods I accept. I have now rectified this situation and they won't have reason to pull it again.
Hello and welcome to my auctions.
I am pleased you could stop by and take a look at what I have for sale today. I hope you won't be disappointed at the quality of my merchandise as I have sourced what I believe is the very "Cream" of UK, Australian and New Zealand underground and obscure progressive, psychedelic rock and folk lp's and singles. These such records I will be listing v. soon and this particular lp is but one example of the sort I am now talking about. Please feel free to have a look at my other auctions of prog and psych which can be viewed by clicking on the link titled "View seller's other items" at the right hand side of your screen. Also, you may wish to bookmark my auctions for further viewing. Simply right click on "View seller's other items" and then left click on the appropriate field in the drop down menu. e.g. "Book mark this link" or "Add to favourites" etc....
Now you are ready to view the other important information regarding my auctions which will help you to understand just what is on offer and the grading and packaging style I use etc....
Firstly, I must say that I really do know how to grade a record. I have had only 1 complaint about my grading of a record which was 2 years ago. I was careless at that time as it was part of about 60 lp's I listed in one fell swoop and I was working too fast before time got away from me. Other than that, the other 6 negatives I received in 6 years was either for revenge feedback from seller or slow delivery due to either Aust. Post or the Post service from country of destination. The 1089 positives I recieved in this same time period are often glowing, from overjoyed/exstatic recipients. Included in the happy buyers were those that bought original copies of Madrigal - s/t on Spyder label from USA (US$770.00), Rendell/Carr (US$710.00), Madden & Harris (US$744.00) to name a few in that price league.
I have been grading and selling records for many years now and after that time one tends to learn what to look for and describe what you see so that the description relays a mental picture to the other person. Having said that, and with the above facts & figures in mind, please bid with absolute confidence on my listings. I and others would say that I am one of the best and longest in the business and if you want to find sellers who grade badly or package badly with flimsy mailers like many UK sellers (who use envelope mailers with either none or one stiffener) or don't say how they grade/package at all, then it would be easy to do and you will get as much joy from them when you open the mailer as can be expected i.e. none. I grade under direct lamplight..of course, and play grade them on my Rega Planar 2 t/table with RB250 arm and new Elise Cartridge.
A grading of M- is my highest grading for a used record. To my way of grading, if it displays a few light paper scuffs from putting the disc in and out of the inner sleeve or perhaps a few tiny creases to the spine area, this signifies it is a used record but handled with extreme care if there is nothing else to report. It is as good as a used record gets. Anything else/more faults would get EX to EX+ for sure and then downward from there. I AM pretty pedantic. It would be the sort of condition that would satisfy all but maybe 1% of EXTREMELY pedantic of collectors. I have had no complaints so I am doing something right obviously. - Which brings me to packaging.
On all my listings, I have included a side-shot photo of one of my parcels ready to go out to a recent winning bidder. What this really shows is the lp was placed in the middle of one panel of a 35 x 35cm cardboard which is 4mm thick. Then it is sandwiched between another such panel. These oversized panels mean it is going to be protected from side impacts and corner impacts due to the space all around it. We collectors need this sort of thing badly, but sadly, not many sellers offer it.
Then, after this has been taped around the edges, I take ANOTHER two such 4mm thick panels of the same size and tape them over the original sandwich-style mailer I just made, thus providing an astonishing 8mm (or > 5/16 inch) of impact protection on BOTH SIDES of the lp and tantamount to packing it in an Abrams M-1 tank !!
Of course, the lp jacket/sleeve is placed in a plastic outer sleeve and the disc is placed behind it and the plastic sleeve is then taped down around the edges if there is loose space there, to avoid movement or sliding around of the items, which is highly unlikely, given the sandwich mailer I use which prevents this from happening on it's own. If you're sick of receiving bad packaging from record sellers, then you'll be glad to know that sort of thing it stops right here!
I see no need to write anything about the music on the lp as they are all well documented and in the top 10% of all lp's in their genre regarding rarity and desirability. I will try and make the condition description as brief as possible.
Well then, now that you have read that and understand the parameters of my listings, here then, are the details and item description of the lp.
For auction today: Orig. Australian copy of Aussie progressive gem Galadriel - s/t. On the Polydor label # 2907-001.
Ok, I am lost for words for once in my life. All I will say is that I have had 3 copies of this lp in the last 12 years and have seen or been offered on the telephone 4 other copies in those 12 years and NONE of them were any where near as in good condition as this. Not even close.
They could only have hoped to equal this condition anyway as it is virtually faultless, so it's a moot point to some extent.
Sleeve is as good as my copy of Arzachel I have for auction at the moment. Only 2 small thumb creases on front. That's it. Otherwise the fully laminated sleeve shines like a mirror. Brings out the fantasy artwork like no other.
Disc has 1-2 whispy paper scuffs. Nothing else to report whatsoever. Looks like it just came of the vinyl pressing plant.....seriously.
Clean labels with only 2 small spindle marks on S2. Otherwise looks unplayed.
99% of dealers would not bother mentioning the thumbcreases and just call sleeve "M-"
However, I am going to be super harsh.
Graded: cover/disc = EX+/M-.
I will do my best to answer any questions about this lp and send more photos of item via email, if you request it. Overseas postage for this lp is approx. US$11.00.
PLEASE READ THIS PART ABOUT PAYMENTS: I accept Australian Postal Money Orders and direct deposit. I also accept Paypal. Regretably, I usually leave neg. feedback for non-payers...it's true. Thanking you, again.
