Description

John English III and the Heathens on the Sabra Records label doing I Need You Near / Some People in VG to VG+ condition. The record plays with excellent fidelity, shows lots of gloss, occasional light wear, mostly clean sound. Please listen to the streaming audio of both sides of this actual record by using the eCommerce auction player.

As grading is always based on each listener's individual experience, I ask each potential bidder to carefully listen to the audio sound samples to make their own determination of the grading condition of this record. From my experience, it play grades between VG and VG+. There are light scuffs or wear, but no serious scratch marks. (Please see the scans.) There is a slightly raised edge along the outer edge of the first trail in groove at 4:00 o'clock on the A side. This may cause an almost imperceptible edge warp, which is barely noticeable, and does not affect play of the record. (Please see the scan of the record from the edge.)  The raised edge does not enter the first two trail in grooves, as it only enters the outermost third trail in groove. (Please see the scan of this.) This may be a result of the pressing. (It does not appear on the reverse side.)

If you listen to the full sound samples, and study the scans, you will be able to determine the condition of this record very accurately on your own terms. I strive to represent the condition of this valuable record as accurately as I can.

As most garage collectors are already aware, this is one of the most coveted garage records anywhere. Up until a few years ago, only a handful of copies were available in the private collections. A few copies have sold in recent years. A clean copy first sold on Ebay six years ago for $7600. Since then, a few more copies have surfaced, and according to one collector, a M- copy sold for $4000 some three years ago. It rarely comes up for sale anywhere.

The winning bidder must use any mail service that offers full tracking, delivery confirmation, and full insurance. Express mail is recommended for overseas shipments. I offer a full guarantee after the record is received by the winning bidder, but I can not be responsible for uninsured packages without delivery confirmation and tracking. Bids away on a great garage rarity.

International customers who want insurance and/or tracking must use either registered or global express mail service. (These services are not available with first class postal international mail service.) Registered mail takes a week longer, due to security handling. International registered mail services for one record costs $17.00. After winning a record, please notify me, if you desire these services. I can send you an amended Ebay invoice, with the desired shipping services.

Please submit payment within 7 days of auction ending, or a non-paying bidder alert will be issued and/or relisting of the item may result. Please communicate with me, if there is a delay in payment.

I usually ship within 24 hours of receipt of payment, except for weekends or postal holidays.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ! Once a package leaves the US, only the postal service has control over handling or delivery time. Most international shipments are arriving in about a week. So far, all my shipments have arrived safely. The customer has the option to select insurance for absolute security.

There is a complete audio stream of at least one side of each record on the listing page. Occasionally the audio stream "times out" overseas, limiting the sound, to a brief "clip". If this happens, please email or message me, and I will try to make a correction.

Here is an explanation of the grading system.

M(10) PERFECT! Label, vinyl, sound, all perfect…

M-(9) Maybe a few smudges, some very fine sleeve marks, etc. All glossy vinyl. Label pretty. Sounds great!! (sleeve marks are those tiny scratches with no effect on sound)

Ex+(8) or Vg++(8) A few sleeve marks or a few fine scratches, label still nice. Good gloss. appears-- still sounds great!! UK: EX+

Vg+(7) Probably lots of sleeve marks, OR several fine scratches, OR one or two more serious scratches, OR scuffs. Some gloss. Label is still real nice! Possibly a bit of dirt on it, etc. Overall, a fine copy. No noticeable record noise. UK:EX

Vg(6) It has sleeve marks AND: numerous very fine scratches, or a few more serious scuffs. Still nice looking overall. May be noise in quiet passages, but still sounds good! Still some gloss. Label is beginning to show signs of wear, but not serious. UK: Ex-, Or VG++.

Vg-(5) LOTS of fine scratches and almost no gloss. OR a few serious scratches, OR scuffed. Label is possibly worn. Plays with noise which doesn’t overwhelm the music. Gloss is possible, if the scratches are bad enough.UK: VG+

G+(4) COMPLETELY covered with fine scratches, OR a mix of fine and serious scratches or other defects. Label may be pretty trashed, but is generally readable. Plays with hiss, crackle or distortion, but not awful. UK:VG

G-(3) A filler. LOTS of serious scratches, definitely some audible. Noise is more prominent than the music. Label is BARELY readable. BUT: it plays ok… UK: VG- Between G and F

F(2) Almost unacceptable. Plays through. Label seriously worn. UK: G

P(1) POOR Gots lotsa scratches, scratches, scratches etc. I will NEVER list one like this.
