Garbage’s 1995 self-titled debut is a genre-blending masterpiece that fused mid-90s alternative rock with trip-hop, industrial beats, and electronic pop. Spearheaded by renowned producer Butch Vig and featuring the magnetic vocals of Shirley Manson, the album delivered iconic hits like "Stupid Girl" and "Only Happy When It Rains".


Crafted by a trio of seasoned musicians (Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig) who tapped Scottish frontwoman Shirley Manson, the LP is celebrated for its highly polished studio production. Unlike the raw, gritty grunge movement of the early 90s, the album used samples, synthesizers, and loops to create a dark, cinematic soundscape that still packed a heavy rock punch. Lyrically, the album explores themes of angst, broken relationships, and vulnerability, all delivered with Manson's signature sultry, yet deadpan, edge.
